It’s officially 2020.

A new year and a new decade wrapped in one. The holidays are officially over until next November but if it’s anything like this year, it’ll fly by.

Food for thought: this is my 5th decade of existence.

It’s funny, really. I’m sitting here in bed at 2:30am, watching TV and writing this post, and I can’t help but look back at the last year and the fact that not only will it be a new year in just a few days, but it will also be a new decade.

Call it a mid-life crisis, call it depression, whatever you decide though, I’ve spent the last 8 months looking back on my life for the past 39 years and I feel like I’ve accomplished absolutely nothing.

Currently, I’m working on a full year-end post that I hopefully have ready before the end of the year. It’s a bit difficult to do when everyone is awake, especially my autistic son who is a constant ball of energy which makes it nearly impossible to get anything done except chase him throughout the house.

In the meantime, I have just two words to describe my current mood:

Goodbye, December.

2019 marks the 6th year in which I participate in NaNoWriMo, and the 3rd year in which I exclusively use Storyist to reach my goal. I’ve used Scrivener in the past but found Storyist to be much more simplistic so I can focus on writing and reaching 50,000 words in 30 days.

If you’re participating this year, good luck! So far, I’ve reached my goal of 50,000 words around the 21 day mark, and this year looks to be no different.

Today finally kicks off the first calendar day of Autumn, and I couldn’t be happier. Cooler weather, leaves changing color, shorter days, Halloween…all of these things make it my favorite season. It doesn’t hurt that I was also born in the fall but that’s neither here nor there.

Although, judging from summer (and the rest of the year to be honest), this season will be over before we know it.

Enjoy it while it lasts!

It’s been almost two and a half years since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released. I’ve had the game since the day it came out when I bought my Switch and to this day, I still enjoy playing and exploring, even after I’ve defeated Ganon. It’s already been stated by many, many gaming sites and communities but it’s worth repeating how fantastic this game is. Definitely looking forward to the sequel, whenever that gets released.
